to pay for it? if not, i will get rid of it. obama care son my list, i apologize, mr. president. i use that term with all respect. >> i like it. >> okay, good. so i will get rid of that i'm sorry, jim, i'm going to stop the subsidy to pbs. i'm going to stop other things to pbs i like big bird and i like you too. i'm not going to stop borrowing money from china to pay for it. >> i thought lehrer was big bird. first let's go with the president looking down while romney is speaking. >> i'm comparing this to 2008. this wasn't a good thing. typically when he looks down he is trying show his disagreement. i don't agree what you are saying. tight jaw, clinched lip. there is also a level of intimidation i think in parts of the clip where he doesn't feel good about what's going on with romney. he feels insecure with romney. >> bill: shouldn't he be looking at romney isn't that much better body language. >> much better. more powerful to look at him. >> bill: looking away showing weakness. >> you don't deserve my eye contact therefore i'm not going to give it to you. >> bill: condescending. >> ri

, that my life has shown that i care about the 100% and that has been demonstrated throughout my life. this whole campaign is about the 100%. when i become president, it'll be about helping the 100%. >> brown: still, president obama was having none of it. >> from the day we began this campaign, we've always said that real change takes time. it takes more than one year or one term, or even one president. it takes more than one party. it certainly can't happen if you're willing to write off half the nation before you even take office. >> brown: with the economy dominating the campaign, and with 12 million americans still unemployed, it was clear the punching and counter-punching over jobs will only grow more intense. and there's still one more monthly employment report coming-- on november 2, four days before election day. to help break down the jobs numbers, i am joined by neil irwin, economics reporter at the "washington post." and diane swonk, chief economist at mesirow financial. diane, start with you, was this big drop in the unemployment number a surprise or what's going on? >> we

and obama, you have to understand the great majority feel that democrats represent their interests and care about their issues more than republicans. and what has hurt republicans is that very negative rhetoric on the immigration issue. that has hurt republicans tremendously. and the fact that now they have a candidate for the first time like george said. even in the last ee lerks, mccain, all of the candidates have embraced candidate reform. this is the first time they've said i want it for legal immigration. he keeps emphasizing legal immigration thinking that latinos are so ignorant that they're going to buy it when he's talking about legal immigration and not finding a solution. i asked romney, with all due respect the fact that you are not answering this question makes people feel like you are evading it. >> are you going to deport them if you become a president? >> we're not going to round up people around the country and deport them. this is something that's going to have to be worked out by republicans and democrats together. i will lead a program that gets us to a permanent solutio

. i would say the comparison is to bill clinton who also, like obama, had a democrat house and senate when he first came in. he was very liberal. he packed tax hikes. he tried to -- he passed tax hikes. he tried pass national care. america responded by voting in the republican revolution of 1994 and oh boy did we see an about-face with bill clinton. usually when you suffer a devastating defeat like that you see the american people aren't aproving of your policies and that was when clinton really became a d.l.c., democratic leadership council democrat and pretty much just signed everything the newt gingrich congress sent up to him. that's the commi economy that democrats -- that's the economy that democrats are bragging about that obama had to brag about in the debate another night. he can't do anything his four years. he's got to go back to the clinton era. the reason the clinton era office is prosperous it wasn't prosperous the first four years of the clinton administration. oh no. it was when the republican congress came in beginning in january of 1995 passing welfare reform, fantas
